Memorial Fund to Honor Former Library Staff Member Becky Travis

Matching Gift Challenge: $10,000 in 10 Days

Recently, Becky Travis, Elk Rapids District Library Program Coordinator, passed away at age 49. All who knew her will remember her vibrant life and the joy she shared with the community through her work. To honor the selfless and creative contributions of a beloved colleague and friend, the Elk Rapids District Library has established a Becky Travis Memorial Fund so her vision can live on in the form of an expanded and improved library.

The Friends of the Library and two anonymous donors have seeded the Memorial Fund, and now offer a “$10K in 10 Days” challenge: If $5,000 is raised in the next ten days, those funds will be matched dollar-for-dollar.

“It’s a wonderful way to honor all the great work Becky did for the library and the community as a whole,” says Library Director Nannette Miller. “Becky was passionate about her job at the library as Program Coordinator, and she was very excited about the many opportunities a bigger library would provide.”
The Memorial Fund will dedicate a new space and programs to Travis, specifically related to nature, which she loved.

Please help the Becky Travis Memorial Fund reach this important goal by Saturday, August 17th. To donate, please drop off a contribution at the Elk Rapids District Library or donate online.
